The Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Competency is designed for partners with proven expertise in designing and/or implementing complex infrastructure solutions such as Active Directory®-based and Microsoft Integration Server design and deployment solutions, or Microsoft Exchange Server migration or deployment solutions. Microsoft Gold Certified Partners enrolled in the Networking Infrastructure Solutions Competency have proved their competency in implementing technology solutions based on either the Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 or Windows® 2000 Server operating system, with a particular focus on Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 and Windows Small Business Server 2003. These implementations may include crafting solutions that connect Windows-based servers, PC locations and the Internet; installing a server farm; or building a small-business Windows Server stand-alone solution that includes file and print capabilities. "Our industry partners allow us to deliver high-quality solutions and applications to our customers. And we’re always looking at ways to improve our relationships," said Paul Flessner, senior vice president of the Server Platform Division at Microsoft. "Solutions Competencies enable Microsoft to provide resources and training to partners seeking to meet, and even surpass, customer needs. The competencies also provide industry partners with a way to showcase their expertise to customers who depend on them for services, such as building their critical infrastructure needs such as storage and hosting solutions." The Microsoft Partner Program was launched in December 2003 and represents Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to the success of partners worldwide. The program offers a single, integrated partnering framework that recognizes partner expertise, rewards the total impact that partners have in the technology marketplace, and delivers more value to help partners’ businesses be successful.

Exchange Resource Manager manages hundreds of corporate resources worldwide in less than two months Austin, Texas - August 19, 2003 Simpler-Webb, Inc. announced that in less than two months, hundreds of resource accounts around the world are now managed by Exchange Resource Manager (ERM). ERM is a supported, Exchange-based solution giving IT organizations resource management capabilities from a centralized location at a relatively low-cost. Since its official release in early June 2003, a variety of customers worldwide have purchased ERM to manage resources, such as conference rooms, video conferencing equipment, and audio equipment. Scheduling resources is a complex and costly task. Major issues facing organizations using Exchange without a resource management solution, such as ERM, include manual meeting request processing, double booking, and resource scheduling errors by the end-user. Because these are universal issues, ERM quickly gained international appeal. As a result, ERM customers reside not only in North America, but also in Europe and New Zealand. An ERM customer from a New Zealand government organization says, ""ERM is a really good product. Learning how to create event sinks was making the auto-response issue bigger than it needed to be. Being able to install a piece of software that takes care of it in one go has been brilliant. And, the support has been comprehensive and very fast - instant in most cases, even though they're over the other side of the world!" ERM also appeals to all organization types. ERM clients include industries such as consumer products, high tech, insurance, and manufacturing. In addition, universities, government agencies, and non-profit organizations also use ERM to manage their conference rooms and other resources, such as laptops or projectors. "We are excited by the variety of customers purchasing ERM," says Andy Webb, President of Simpler-Webb. "Given how ERM addresses general resource management issues for Exchange environments, we anticipate continued customer diversity, as well as, variety in the use of ERM in these different industries and environments." A fully-functional free version of ERM for managing up to two (2) resources is available for download to registered guests at www.swinc.com/erm. Simpler-Webb Introduces a Centralized, Easy-to-Use Resource Management Solution for Microsoft Exchange Environments Austin, Texas - June 2, 2003 Simpler-Webb, Inc. announced today the introduction of Exchange Resource Manager 1.0 (ERM). ERM is a server-based resource management extension for Microsoft Exchange. ERM gives IT departments a quick, out-of-the-box solution to better manage corporate rooms and resources on the Exchange server. It is compatible with Exchange 2000 and the upcoming Exchange 2003. Corporate resources, such as conference rooms, laptops, and projectors, are an integral part of an organization?s daily business activities. Scheduling these resources is a complex and costly task in many organizations. ?Booking and managing resources needs to be more intelligent, more efficient and less complicated? says Andy Webb, President of Simpler-Webb. ?Companies have spent significant dollars implementing Exchange and are now seeking ways to better utilize it for their business environment. ERM gives IT departments the ability to manage corporate resources from a centralized location?their Exchange server?using an intuitive user interface. For the end-users, ERM gives them the confidence that the resource they require will be booked.? Kenneth Walden from GSD&M, an advertising firm running ERM in their production environment, says, ?When we moved to Exchange 2000, we knew we needed a solution at least equal to our Exchange 5.5 resource booking tool. Exchange Resource Manager has not only met, but exceeded our expectations. ERM efficiently processes over 100 meeting requests per day, including those from OWA and our Outlook for Mac clients? Exchange Resource Manager accepts or declines all meeting requests. ERM eliminates double-booking by checking the actual resource calendar to evaluate availability instead of limited and potentially out-of-date free/busy data. The administrator can select, configure, and manage all the resources on an Exchange server from the ERM interface. From this easy-to-use interface, ERM allows global and individual resource configuration, such as restricting resource scheduling to individuals or groups and customizing confirmation text responses. For the end-user, ERM works with all versions of Outlook, including Outlook Web Access (OWA) and Outlook for Macs. With ERM, end users no longer worry about the invitation method because ERM will process meeting requests for either an attendee or a "resource". About Simpler-Webb Simpler-Webb is a globally-recognized leader in the arena of messaging and calendaring, with a particular focus on Microsoft Exchange. In the Press
Slipstick Exchange Resource Manager released May 2003 Exchange 2000 administrators have been waiting a long time for a comprehensive solution for managing resource calendars, those ubiquitous Calendar folders in mailboxes created specifically for booking conference rooms, equipment, and other company resources. While an open-source event sink that automatically accepts appointments for resource calendars has been available from http://autoaccept-sink.sourceforge.net/, the most anticipated tool has been Exchange Resource Manager (ERM), which Simpler-Webb showed at the MEC conference last October. ERM, now available at http://www.swinc.com/erm/, automatically accepts or declines meetings for the mailboxes you designate as resources, but it also adds many features that administrators and users alike have asked for. Some of the highlights:
If you want to give ERM a try, you can download a free, fully functional, one-server, two-resource version from http://shop.swinc.com/erm/evaluation.asp.
Enable Automatic Resource Scheduling February 2003 Issue Q We're beginning to use Exchange and Outlook for conference room scheduling. Thus far, using Outlook doesn't seem like an efficient way to do this. I thought there was a script we could install that would handle this. Ben: A product from Simpler-Webb called Exchange Resource Manager (ERM) automates and simplifies this process (see Resources). Unlike the Exchange 5.5 solution, this one uses Exchange 2000 Information Store event sinks. You configure ERM centrally using a graphical user interface, rather than installing a separate script or logging on to each resource mailbox. Other benefits: ERM supports direct booking; you can configure custom messages that can be used to reply to resource requests; and users need much less handholding.
