Simpler-Webb Releases Managed Backup Solution

Austin, TX, August 20, 2009 - Simpler-Webb, Inc., an Austin-based provider of Information Technology Solutions, announced today the official release of their Managed Backup service to the public. This new service offering comes at a critical time in which threats to corporate data integrity are constantly increasing, ranging from natural disasters, compromised system security, aging hardware, and human error.
The Managed Backup solution caters to the diverse needs of each customer by offering two complementary options: 1. Fully hosted and managed at the Simpler-Webb datacenter requiring no hardware or software purchase by the customer, and 2. a replication solution that enables clients to maintain a local backup copy that is also stored at Simpler-Webb for high availability. In the fully managed option, Simpler-Webb provides everything a business needs to preserve their critical business data, including the hardware, software, daily monitoring of backup jobs, monthly reporting, quarterly test restores to confirm data availability, all at a secured offsite data store.
“I’ve never known a system administrator who liked to manage or monitor their data backups,” states Jeff Simpler, Simpler-Webb co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer. “Consequently, many of our clients find out the hard way – when a server crashes – that their backups were never setup correctly, or had failed at some point without their IT staff’s knowledge.” Regulatory requirements are growing stricter across the board, pushing backups into the forefront of executive management’s concerns. With the replicated option, Simpler-Webb offers a solution for companies who wish to maintain a local backup copy with the capability for offsite duplication. Simpler-Webb replicates the client backup data over an encrypted tunnel for storage in a secure facility with 24x7x365 monitoring, enabling clients to achieve high levels of performance and data availability. This enables onsite monitoring with expert technicians on hand to troubleshoot data communications as needed and provide alerts if any failures occur. Monthly reporting is also provided as well as quarterly test restores.
Both Managed Backup service options provide industry-leading data de-duplication, which decreases backup time and dataset size by orders of magnitude leveraging the customer’s existing Internet connection as the only transport typically needed. Other features include single-step recovery, virtual machine backups, off-site storage, monitoring, testing, reporting, administrative support and simple pricing. Initial dataset assessments are provided at no cost to help determine clients’ data protection needs.
